General Construction-Foundation Projects

Xypex products play a key role in the waterproofing of concrete against water leakage, extreme hydrostatic pressure, the effects of sulfate attack and crack or joint failure.

  • Hostivař Apartment House

    Prague, Czech Republic

Xypex Admix was used to waterproof and protect the foundation of this residential building. The waterproofing was carried out in two stages using a total of 4,000 kg of Admix C-1000 NF.
  • “Fokus” Building

    Warsaw, Poland

Xypex Concentrate was applied to a 133 m strip between the top plate and the sheet pile wall.
  • 102 University Avenue

    Palo Alto, California, USA

Joseph Bellomo Architects used the crystalline waterproofing and protection features of Xypex in an innovative concrete mix on their new LEED Platinum project in Palo Alto, California. A 70% slag concrete mix combined with Xypex Admix was used for the 3,600 cubic yards required for the six-story building’s façade.

  • 1504 Coney Island Avenue

    Brooklyn, New York, USA

With more than 160,000 sq.ft. of space, this brand new retail and office building is the largest in Midwood, Brooklyn, NY. Xypex Admix C-500 was used to waterproof and protect 4,000 cu.yds. of the below grade foundation. Three months after the foundation was completed, all of the areas were dry and to date, Xypex has been performing to the owner’s and engineers’ expectations.
  • 313@Somerset

    Singapore, Singapore

Engineers, Meinhardt Infrastructure, faced many design challenges including a canal that ran through the centre of the building site, a very high water table and greatly elevated sulphate levels in the surrounding soils.
  • 327 Royal Palm

    Boca Raton, FL, USA

Due to the high density of population, and restrictions on construction, this below grade foundation concrete placements have to be done in multiple segments. The last picture is the application of Xypex Concentrate slurry prior to installation of the Miraseal water stop. Recommended construction joint details when using the Xypex Admixture.
  • 409 and 499 Illinois

    San Francisco, California, USA

With an especially high water table at 8 feet below grade, the possibility of saltwater attack, and a garage design calling for two parking levels at 30-ft below grade, Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was specified to waterproof and protect the below-grade slabs and perimeter walls.

  • 5 Broadgate

    London, United Kingdom

Three, four and six Broadgate were demolished to allow for construction of a 12 storey office building with two basement floors that will deliver state of the art trading facilities. Xypex was selected to replace the specified external membrane. The main reason for this change to the specification was to simplify and speed up the construction process, and reduce cost. Xypex Admix was used in the capping beam, basement walls and as a topping on the basement slab to ensure the double story basement remains totally dry. Not all walls are lined, so detailing needed to be created to manage and withhold the flow of water laterally where Xypex withheld the hydrostatic pressure.
  • 60 Holborn Viaduct

    London, United Kingdom

This scheme comprised of basement, ground and 8 upper floors for office use including reconstruction of The Gatehouse will be built to the highest technical specification. Xypex Admix has once again successfully been used in this project as the sole barrier to water ingress. The basement is in the entire footprint of the site and Xypex was selected to replace the specified membrane. Part of the decision to use Xypex Admix was due to its ability to be used in concrete mixes which have a high blended cement content. Xypex is in the entire basement slab, walls and capping beam as well as the lower sections of the slip formed core which is part of the external concrete wall.
  • 85th Ave. Apartment Building

    Redmond, Washington, USA

Over 400 cubic yards of concrete were placed with shotcrete containing a 2% dosage rate of Xypex Admix C-500. Shotcrete was placed against the piles and lagging to form the single-side form walls which are becoming a popular method of below-grade wall construction. Xypex Admix was also used to waterproof the slabs and elevator pits. More than 24,000 lbs of Xypex C-500 were used in 2,400 cubic yards for this project. The property is next to Bear Creek and has a high water table.
